Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania

P2120587.JPG

Displays over 100 locomotives and cars from the mid-19th and 20th centuries, including the priceless Pennsylvania Railroad Historical Collection. The TCA train show in York Pa. was April, 2006. When we attended the show we went to the Toy Train Museum and to this Museum of full size trains. Both were fun. This is our trip through the full size world of trains. But there much bigger than the one's on our layout!

Strasburg Railroad

P2140644.JPG

Founded in 1832, the Strasburg Rail Road celebrates the 175th Anniversary of its railroad charter in 2007. Precisely when the railroad first turned a wheel is still a matter of patient research, but the earliest timetable found to date indicates Strasburg trains were scheduled as of December 1851. Whenever in the Lancaster Pa. area, this is a fun trip for everyone in the family. The day we rode on the Strasburgh Railroad was a chilly day. Carol sat in a seat while I stood on the outside observation platform. The engine was pulling in reverse connected by the platform. I was warm as toast, outside!
